Paul Joseph Amani

Dr. Paul Joseph Amani is a Lecturer with a Ph.D. in Clinical Medicine with an orientation toward Public Health from Umea University, Sweden. He has a background in health administration and his research and teaching focus on health system responsiveness, health insurance reforms, and healthcare service use particularly among the elderly in rural and resource-constrained areas. He has experience in ethnographic and survey research and data analysis and has led a several collaboration that include between Mzumbe University and the Japanese International Cooperation Agency (JICA), the University of Neu Ulm- Germany, and the University of California San Francisco (UCSF). He successfully led a collaboration between UCSF and Mzumbe University that resulted in the establishment of a Master of Science in Health Monitoring and Evaluation at Mzumbe University in 2013. Currently, he is serving as a Secretary of the East African Journal of Applied Health Monitoring and Evaluation, which is hosted by Mzumbe University under the Centre of Excellence in Health Monitoring and Evaluation.
