MWOTAJI tackles the complex social and economic barriers that make adolescent girls and young women vulnerable to HIV in Tanzania. We are focused on human-centered community solutions, that give AGYW agency and power in decision making about the way they access healthcare services.

We strive to engage communities in solutions to make healthcare accessible to young women in Tanzania. We do this through:

The Mwotaji PATC3H-IN Clinical Research Center is pioneering advancements in research and innovation in Tanzania, chiefly focusing on enhancing the well-being of young women. Utilizing cutting-edge implementation science approaches and leveraging human-centered design, Mwotaji is at the forefront in creating nuanced solutions developed in synchrony with young women in the region. This collaborative and user-centric approach ensures the development of strategies and services that resonate with the needs and preferences of the young women, empowering them to make informed choices on accessing reproductive health and HIV prevention services. Mwotaji’s innovative model not only emphasizes accessibility and inclusivity but also serves as a beacon of transformative change in reproductive health services, fostering an environment where every young woman has the autonomy to make health decisions that align with her individual needs and circumstances

2. Transformative partnerships to achieve sustainable impact.

MWOTAJI supports regions and health authorities within Tanzania, as well as international partners, in developing and implementing enduring strategies to combat HIV among adolescent girls and young women. These strategies encompass examining new channels for reproductive health and HIV prevention services with an implementation science framework and the development of models for involving community partners, all aimed at creating an impactful change in the lives of young women and girls in Tanzania.

1.2: Implementation Science Capacity Building

MWOTAJI brings 20 years of experience in implementation science research in Tanzania and globally and will support the development of a certificate program in Implementation Science for national, regional and district health officials and implementers.
